Questions & answers
Can I use it in the oven, the air fryer, the fridge or the car?
No. It only works in a microwave, because microwaves are what heat the water inside it. None of those four emits microwaves, so nothing in the cleaner would get hot. Listings for this style of cleaner name them anyway — we would rather correct it here than let you find out after you buy.
Will it take burnt-on food off in one go?
Fresh splatter and ordinary grime, yes — one or two passes with a paper towel. A carbonised crust baked on for months will not lift in a single run: expect a second round and some scrubbing. Steam softens; it does not lift on its own.
Why not just microwave a mug of water?
You can, and it will make steam. What this buys you is the dosing, a handle to lift it out with, a top that keeps the water from boiling over, and something that stands in the microwave as a reminder. If a mug already works for you, use the mug — that is a fair answer.
Does it leave a vinegar smell?
Yes, for a while. It fades on its own, and running it once with a slice of lemon in the water helps, though it does not erase it. A tester reported the smell lingering even with lemon, so we are not going to promise otherwise.
Does it clean the microwave on its own?
No. It loosens what is stuck so that one wipe takes it off, and the wipe is still yours to do. We do not claim anything beyond softening and loosening — nothing about killing anything or making a surface safe.
How do I clean the cleaner itself?
